Cultural monument from the Middle Ages

A trip to Lake Constance should not be complete without a visit to the impressive Salem Monastery. As the oldest Cistercian monastery, it is rightly one of the most beautiful cultural monuments on Lake Constance. The ensemble of medieval church and baroque monastery building is particularly worth seeing. The monastery was built between the late 13th and 15th centuries in the Gothic style. At the beginning of the 18th century the new building in the baroque style followed. The monastery museum, stables, fire museum, smithy, wine press and distillery museum are very impressive. Here you can experience how the Cistercians used to live and get an exciting insight into the history of the monastery from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period.
