The existing MARITIM pier in Timmendorf Beach is a full 275 metres long. The ageing bridge is to be replaced by a new bridge approximately 430 metres long, which will also have a circular path. The old pier in Timmendorf Beach was built in 1908 and had to be demolished in the 1970s due to weather damage. It was extensively restored in 1976 and quickly became the landmark of Timmendorf Beach with its benches. Events such as the pier festival, the final of the German Beach Volleyball Championships and the Beach Polo Championships attract numerous visitors to the MARITIM pier in Timmendorf Beach every year.
