At the beginning of the 13th century, the town of Waren an der Müritz developed from a Slavic settlement. Numerous historical buildings still bear witness to the time when Waren was the residence of the Princes of Werle. Particularly impressive are the churches of St. Georgen and St. Marien, the oldest buildings in the town. The many elaborately restored town houses and half-timbered buildings, the Old and New Town Halls and the old tile pottery are also absolutely worth seeing. An eye-catcher is the listed half-timbered house Haus des Gastes, which today houses a pharmacy and the tourist information office. This was built at the end of the 18th century on the remains of medieval houses.
