One of the last Staufer castles

Guttenberg Castle is something very special: As one of the last and never destroyed Staufen castles, it has been inhabited for 800 years – since the 15th century by the Barons of Gemmingen. Visitors can embark on a journey through time from the Middle Ages to the 19th century in the castle museum or dine in the historic ambience of the Burgschenke. Guttenberg Castle is also popular for weddings. Guided tours for school classes and regular flight demonstrations with birds of prey and owls are also offered. Also worth a visit is the library with over 3000 volumes, around 30 incunabula and the wooden library, a 200-year-old herbarium with 93 volumes.
