Home House of the Transylvanian Saxons

Horneck Castle is located above Gundelsheim on the Neckar River and was built in 1238. In the past, the castle was part of the Teutonic Order and ruled the German Plain together with the neighboring Guttenberg Castle, but today the castle is owned by the Transylvanian Saxons. These made the castle their home and renovated it in 2020 with great effort. In the main building there is a large collection of paintings with Transylvanian motifs, which can be visited just like the rest of the castle complex. In addition, the historic building now houses a hotel, a library, a museum and a cultural and meeting center.
