The Regiswindis Church in Lauffen am Neckar is considered a prominent landmark of the town. No wonder – it can be easily seen from its location on a rock above the river. Before the sacred building from the year 1227 with its 54 meter high tower, there were already four churches on the same site. The first was built of wood in the year 700 and bore the name of St. Martin. The present Protestant parish church was dedicated to St. Regiswindis. After a big fire in 1564 the church was rebuilt. In the neighboring Regiswindis chapel there is the stone Regiswindis shrine from the 13th century since about 1880.
