Formerly knight's castle, today wedding venue

Lichtenstein Castle was built at the end of the 14th century as a medieval castle of the Knights of Lichtenstein and was one of the most fortified complexes of its time. After the knightly dynasty of Lichtenstein died out in the 17th century, their ancestral castle became the property of Wilhelm, Count of Württemberg. The later Duke of Urach had the present castle complex built on the remains of the old castle. He was inspired by Wilhelm Hauff’s novel “Lichtenstein”. Today, the impressive castle presents itself as a building of the Romantic period, in which, however, medieval influences are also clearly visible. In addition to guided tours, you can also experience Lichtenstein Castle during civil weddings and as a wedding location.
