Since their redesign in 2020, Lübeck’s long water steps on the Untertrave have become a new meeting place for residents and tourists near the old town. In addition to the water steps, the Swivel Bridge Square was also redesigned to improve the quality of stay in this part of the city. The seating steps are a wonderful place to relax, enjoy a fish sandwich from the neighbouring kiosk and look out over the water and the historic ships of the museum harbour. Lübeck’s old town is only a few minutes’ walk away, so it’s a good place to take a break after a stroll through the city. During the Christmas season, the traditional harbour glow takes place on Lübeck’s atmospherically decorated water steps.
