As the name suggests, Marbach’s Schillerhöhe is dedicated to the town’s most famous son: Friedrich Schiller. Between 1835 and 1840, citizens created a beautiful park here with a view of the Neckar Valley. The planted trees and shrubs were donated by King Wilhelm I at that time. The Schillerhöhe is home to the German Literature Archive, the Schiller National Museum, the Modern Literature Museum, the Marbach Town Hall and a monument to the famous German poet. The official celebrations of Schiller’s birthday take place here every year on November 10. The Schiller National Museum was built in 1903 and is considered a landmark of Marbach am Neckar.
