If you want to take a look at Schwetzingen Palace, you can’t miss the magnificent palace garden. The landscape architect Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell designed the Baroque park in the style of an English landscape garden and also integrated numerous buildings. These include the rococo theater in the right-hand circular building from 1752, which is likely to date from the early classicist period, as well as the orangery and the bathhouse. The latter is a villa-like building that served as a retreat for Elector Karl Theodor. The Apollo Temple with the Heckentheater, the buildings of the so-called Roman water fort and the Mercury Temple designed as ancient ruins, the mosque, the Minerva Temple and the Arion Fountain should also not be missed during a visit.
