You can gain an insight into historical Besigheim by visiting the Besigheim Waldhormturm, which can be visited free of charge during guided tours of the town and at Easter, Whitsun and major festivals between April and October. The 29-metre-high tower is a remnant of the fortress with two castle complexes built in 1220 by the Margraves of Baden to defend the town. The name Waldhornturm comes from the adjacent Waldhorn inn. In earlier times, the entrance to the tower was located here. The current entrance was built after the Second World War. It is located in the lower of the five tower vaults.
