The townscape of Maulbronn is dominated by the extensive grounds of Maulbronn Abbey. The former Cistercian abbey is considered the best-preserved medieval monastery complex north of the Alps and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993. Many visitors are amazed to see how present-day life in the small town has been integrated into the monastery complex. In addition to several restaurants, the police, Maulbronn town hall with other offices and a Protestant grammar school with boarding school are located here. Also of interest to visitors are the testimonies to German architectural history that can be seen in Maulbrunn Monastery: From Romanticism to Late Gothic, all architectural styles can be found here.
