Noble residence from the 18th century

As the former seat of the Counts of Montfort, the New Castle in Tettnang was intended for one thing above all: representational purposes. This can still be seen today in the ornate decoration of the castle built at the beginning of the 18th century. Examples of the magnificent artistic details of the stately castle are both the stuccowork and the elaborate family portraits by the well-known artist Angelika Kauffmann. Interested visitors can view the many magnificent rooms on one of the many guided tours offered. The apartments of the counts as well as the castle chapel, the prince’s room, the Bacchus room and the vagabond’s cabinet give an idea of the luxurious lifestyle of the counts of Montfort.
