The city on the mountain

About 50 kilometres east of Nuremberg lies the attractive town of Sulzbach-Rosenberg, which was created in 1934 by merging the town of Sulzbach with the municipality of Rosenberg. Walking through the historic Sulzbach old town with its castle and the two large parish churches, one is struck by the different architectural styles that can be seen everywhere here. Almost all architectural styles, from Gothic to Classicism, can be seen in the picturesque little squares and the well-preserved houses. Due to its location on a steep mountain, which slopes almost vertically towards the castle complex, Sulzbach-Rosenberg is also often referred to as the “town on the mountain”.
